Shard Currency Changes(What happens to excess shards not yet converted?(no credits for 7* promotion)

I have several characters where I have more than 330 shards but I don't have enough currency to promote them to 7* so I can convert those shards in the shard shop. For example I have 395 shards of ...

There should be no difference. If you convert the shards now they're worth 15 each. Convert them after the change and they should be worth 30 each (for toons in the game more than a year).
