Ships to start with

So, I just hit 60, watched a few videos and read a few guides on ship. The information was mostly logistic and general. I'm hoping for some advice as to what to do with my current set up. I have; ...

Yeah, I know the Ship Arena will be full of Wedge and Biggs. I have a decent Empire squad so maybe I'll focus on Empire ships. I need Shoretrooper for DT's ship...which really sucks. They are both hard to get. I must admit, I don't see many GMT in Fleet Arena and he's not great for regular arena either. Ugh.
