One thing missing from your calculations.... time.

With decent arena placement, and a little time you can unlock him for free.....the only thing money gets you is less time. (And a better mod selection)

Since he is viable at 4* and you can grind the gear, you are all set and have your own shiny new baze.

As ftp if you get 1st every day, it'll take a maximum of 75 days to 7* him...pending the shards show up.

Also there's no reason to go for Shore unless you're close to a star or something. Baze is better in every single way.

Baze is absolutely NOT better in every single way, I have 7* Baze and 4* Shore... guess who I run in arena... Shore is just better at taking damage, which is what I need him to do. Maybe someday I'll run rebel and have a use for Baze but for me... baze is a distant second to shore, even without all the skills.

You must not be using Baze correctly or modded differently, because Baze has instataunt which Shore has, then has aoe dispel, then single target dispel and debuff. Unless of course you run EP lead, in which case he simply has more health because of that.

Keep in mind that Shore is more suited for Palpatine leadership with fat health and potency bonus as well as 20% tm gain when applying crit reduction. He is also one of the rare empire AoE healing source. And he shines with Zeta Vader leadership by contributing to the TM removal onslaught.

Everyone thinks differently about money. People that spend that kind of money on a charater have the cash to do so and it's fun for them to try to stay on top. Some think of all the other things they could buy for 200 bucks and say no way. People like me look at 200 spent on a video game and say nope...I never spend more than 10 bucks on a single game these days.

Yes, for sure. But unlike baze, shore can stay relevant at 4*...

I know it might be hard to quantify but what noticeable improvements would I see in my ST?

Yeah, I'm guessing it's mostly protection he gains (when using all 4 protection mods), it adds up. I honestly couldn't tell you off hand exactly what the difference is, except that I'll mow a 3* down while a 4* needs to be considered. Also keep his speed at base so he keeps his taunt longer. Chances are he'll be ability or buff blocked before he gets his turn & he won't regain taunt as a result.

Protection increases only from gear level (7+) and mods. Star level gives a modest boost to health and armor (via strength), but ultimately, you'll want to focus on gear level over star level for a tank. It will make far more difference. If you're already at gear 11, then I'd probably take ST to 4*, just because the investment isn't so high, but I wouldn't worry about getting to 7*. This is coming from someone who has a 7* ST. I got him to 7* in part to use him in p3 of heroic AAT. Incidentally, he works well under zeta Vader lead, both in arena and raids (can solo rancor with Empire team).

Ultimately it comes down to who's on your team and, more importantly, who you are playing against. B2 on the other team? Shore won't do the job, buff immunity and cleanse on the Crit immunity will make him worthless. Against Lando though? He's far superior.

Similarly, does the other team have a super fast STHan? Are they still running Wiggs? Baze starting with retribution has a very real chance to totally ***** you over.

Baze is not better in every way. @DarthGozu is right here, you need to look at your team and the opposing team and make a judgement.

For baze how does you all feel about a crit avoidance arrow over a protection (or speed) mod ?

Generally speaking you'll get more effective hp out of protection with him than crit avoidance

Edit:Just checked on my 6* GrXI Baze and prot arrow was over 6k protection difference, dropped from 54330 to under 48k. Speed or prot would be what you want, speed more important for cleanses and lifesteal.

I don't understand how everyone thinks Baze can take more damage. Are you just looking at their stats and forgetting that once the match starts Baze has a unique that grants him 20% max health?

They have basically the same health + protection if you max them for protection, but Baze has a higher percentage of that as health, which is an advantage. Shoretrooper has about 15 more defense, which is almost negligible.

Some have posted that the auto taunt could be bad, and that the counter could be bad, but that's an odd stance. It's true, but those are both positives way more often than they are negatives.

They only reason I would run Shore over Baze is if you have an empire lead. The health gains from EP are huge, and make him worth it. But any other squad I'm using Baze assuming they are starred and geared equally.
