There is at least one person stating definitively that there is an advantage to going second with no evidence to support their position, so unjustified conclusions are common place on this issue.
What evidence do you need? You have information the other person did not.
Is it an advantage to bat last in baseball? To go second in CFB overtime? 100%
It is a self-evident advantage, but it is hardly insurmountable and likely a few % points only.
In a football penalty shoot-out the team that goes first wins 60% of the time. This is well researched and simply a psychological advantage that translates into a pretty clear advantage.
It's not self evident which is better, and more likely if you change it you trade one bias for another.
And in the end you will run into your50/50 wall anyway. I doubt any change to this issue will put alot of players in highers payout tiers.
