Do people seriously not remember the scene where Palpatine dubs him Darth Vader, which is well before he gets the suit and which Kyno already linked to in this very thread?

Palpatine: "Henceforth you shall be known as Darth Vader". It wasn't "you shall be known as Darth Vader in a couple of days", it's quite literally "you are now Darth Vader".

He was already Vader when he stormed the Jedi Temple, murdered the Separatist Council, and faced off against Obi-Wan. Absolutely no ambiguity about that.
