Don't use execute on them. The damage bonus to execute is not worth it compared to the therm det explosion damage. My strategy is to only pop them when the adds are dead to improve the crit damage,and only apply them after nih takes a turn, before he takes any damage.
Zam popping the dets seems to do a lot of damage.
