What tier or tiers did you play?
Tier IV, with an occasional Tier V
What GP is your Guild that is attempting the raid?
Just over 100M GP.
What teams you did you attempt the raid with?
- Phase 1: JTR/Nightsisters/Empire Death Trooper (DT) team
- Phase 2: Rebels/FO/Ewoks/Phoenix
- Phase 3: Boba Lead DT team - it's bugged against the players since day 1 and remains unfixed (can't target anything but Traya after deathmark even after it expires)/Chexmix/Rebels
- Phase 4:Nightsisters/JTR (Nihilus)/Kitchen sink (rest)
What part of the raid motivated or demotivated you to continue trying?
Motivated: Initially new raid, new strategies to develop, new teams to try, Traya shards.
Motivated: Now - guild obligation as an officer and player with or working on all the meta teams.
Demotivated: Raid design eliminates any team flexibility - JTR or don't bother with P1. P4 Nihilus gives you two options Nightsisters or JTR. P2 and to a lesser extent P3 offers the most flexibility and many teams can be used to effectively cause damage, unlike P1 where you can literally spend 10 minutes each with several different G8-G10 teams and do ZERO damage.
Demotivated: Rewards. To put it bluntly they are insulting. Game play 101 - rewards are supposed to scale with difficulty. Higher difficulty = better rewards.
Compare STR to Heroic Rancor:
Rancor invest time and resources in 1 of several different team compositions at G10+ and you can solo the entire raid in lets conservatively say 20 minutes.
1 Team to gear, 20 minutes of play time.
Get good rewards.
STR Tier IV:
Invest time and resources in to 4-6 mostly specific teams, e.g. JTR at G10+ . W/O everyone in the guild at this level this it translates into 5-10 people carrying the guild through the phases in 3-4 *days*.
4 teams to gear, 3-4 *hours* of game play
Rewards? Less than I get from the challenges I get in 2 minutes of play from the duration of the raid. I've got better rewards from a zero post #27 rank in Heroic Rancor than I get for a #4 posting in a tier IV STR. That's just insulting, there is no other way to say it.
So, 4 times the team requirements, 9-12 times the TIME requirement, for rewards that are equal or less than a Heroic Rancor? WTF. Seriously, it makes zero sense.
I can only guess based on my Tier IV experience, but I have to assume that the team and time requirements are similar for the lower tiers in lower GP guilds, and in any case the difficulty overall is higher than a Heroic rancor.
Translation - Tier I of STR should have started with reward boxes at level of the Heroic Rancor to match the difficulty, and then *go up* from there for the later tiers. Don't want to give us that much gear? Fine - more guild currencies, much more. Guild event tokens should be in every tier, and should have been from the start. And at a level that's closer to a Territory battle given the time commitments, which again over a 6 day TB even requires *less* time that the STR. Maybe lower the rewards in Heroic compared to Tier VI to account for the value of Traya shards.
Demotivated: This thing is *always* running. Every. Single. Day. Finish one, have more than enough tickets to start the next. It's the never ending raid from hell. We've finally just stopped doing them w/o a day or two break in between. It's mostly pointless, the time required is high, participation is low, and rewards add insult to injury for the time commitment.
What about the raid did you enjoy? What did you dislike about the raid?
Enjoy: Environments, Characters, Theme.
Dislike: Design that eliminated any creativity or player choice in team compositions. P1/P4 if a character doesn't have Irresistible effects they are pretty much worthless. Playing for 5-10+ minutes per team run only to suffer bad RNG that kills the whole attempt, causing a retry/repeat loop until either happy with the results or fed up with the time requirement and just auto and finish it out.
Dislike: Rewards. They are bad, bad, bad, and the "flattening" of them that was attempted made it even worse. I need 4-6 G12 teams, the rewards here are not getting me there.
Dislike: Time - as a corollary to rewards - if they were in line with the time required it wouldn't be so bad, but it feels like I get *better* rewards simming the daily challenges over the run time of an STR than I get from a completed STR. Its just sad.
