I don’t think it’s too expensive as superficial cosmetics are the big sellers in games, a lot of FTP games survive off them. Clash of clans did it with a £5.00 season pass. However, this game has a different structure where skins for characters does not work. Clash had limited hero units which essentially got different outfits, and was seasonally themed such as Halloween, Christmas or general Autumn and Winter. Other games have different skins for hero units. Here we have several versions of the same characters which are essentially new skins and abilities already. A good showcase for this is the Han’s LSB.
However, a few games have done rooms / base. An area for personalisation. Others have personalised battle fields such as the new Pokemon trading card mobile game. Whether it can add anything to SWGOH I am unsure, but general gaming communities often prefer it as its pure cosmetic and does not create a P2W aspect.
I still feel the biggest motivation in spending in this game is “accelerating” for impatient players rather than P2W. The way MM is done means you already face players who are years ahead of you (some maybe F2P with a bigger roster). Developing slowly is more beneficial in terms of mods. So you can pay and not win. They are working hard on promoting the latest release for raid, conquest, GC (PVE) but there are often work arounds or ways to accelerate without real world money.
