Stop the Global Price Injustice: The Store Pricing is Broken for Everyone

I need to speak up about the insane price tags in the store because this extreme overpricing is getting out of hand for the entire community. The regional pricing is a total disaster and it’s becoming impossible to justify. We are seeing bundles that are supposed to be "catch-up" mechanics, but the costs in some regions are double—sometimes even triple—the global average. This is a textbook case of price injustice. For example, the recent SEE bundle is being sold for 2000 TRY here. That is nearly $60 for a bundle that costs $25 in the US. How is this fair? Why should any player pay more than double for the exact same digital content? But it’s not just about regional gaps; the base prices of these bundles are already reaching extreme levels for everyone. If we let them get away with charging $60 for a $25 bundle in one region, they will eventually push these unreasonable prices on the entire player base. This broken system ignores economic realities and it’s literally pricing out dedicated players who want to support the game. These aren't "boosters" anymore; they’ve become unreachable luxury items that destroy the competitive balance for everyone. We need fair and standardized pricing tiers, not a system that exploits players based on where they live or greedily inflates costs. Capital Games needs to fix the store and stop this extreme overpricing before it ruins the game for everyone.#SWGOH #PriceInjustice #Overpriced #RegionalPricing #FixTheStore #StopTheGreed

  • Not quite $25 US.  You also have a VAT tax and a some other EU tax if you're in that region that EA/CG doesn't control.  Then there's VGTR and VGEC if your are in the UK.  Cheers.

On another note, you are correct about the increase in pricing being over the top

  • Hasn’t this been discussed often enough? CG do not set the prices in other regions. Period.

You are right about the price in the image being 39.99 dollars, my mistake on the initial number. However, the core issue remains. I do not live in the UK or any EU member state, yet the price in my region is nearly 2000 TRY, which is roughly 60 dollars. No VAT or regional tax can explain a 20 dollar markup on a digital bundle. This is not just a tax issue. It is a complete failure in regional pricing that forces some players to pay 50 percent more for the exact same pixels. Defending this as just taxes is misleading when the price gap is this massive. We need fair and standardized pricing that does not exploit players based on their location

Assuming TRY is Turkish Lira.  Just saying, I've lived overseas in many countries and have had many waivers to avoid these government imposed fees.
VAT on Digital Services: Foreign and domestic providers of digital services (including games, apps, streaming music/video) are required to apply a 20% VAT to consumers in Turkey.
Digital Services Tax: A 7.5% tax is applied to the gross revenue of digital services, including the sale of digital games, in-game purchases, and virtual items. This applies to platforms like Steam, PlayStation Store, and Xbox, often resulting in higher local prices.
Physical Console Taxes: Physical game consoles are subjected to high taxes. Reports indicate that taxes, including a 50% Special Consumption Tax and 18-20% VAT, can effectively double the price of consoles like the PlayStation 5 or Xbox.

KomutanBarcara, listing physical console taxes like ÖTV for a digital in-app purchase is completely irrelevant. We are buying digital crystals, not hardware like a PlayStation 5. These are entirely different tax categories and rules.

Even using the 20% VAT and 7.5% Digital Services Tax you mentioned, the total is 27.5%. However, the price gap we see in the store is over 50%. Tax doesn't explain a $20 increase on a $40 pack. Many other global companies like Steam or Spotify manage regional pricing perfectly fine. Using irrelevant physical hardware taxes to defend these prices doesn't change the math. The gap is simply too wide

  • Out of curiosity, where did you get the exchange rate?  A quick google search gave me this result:

DarthSablotin, thank you for the screenshot! You just proved my point perfectly.

According to your Google search, $1 USD is around 44-45 TRY. However, in the in-game store, a $5 USD pack is being sold for 500 TRY.

    Let’s do the math: 5 x 45 = 225 TRY. But we are paying 500 TRY.

This means EA/CG is effectively charging us based on a $1 = 100 TRY exchange rate. Even if you add the 27.5% tax mentioned by KomutanBarcara, the price should be around 285-300 TRY, not 500 TRY.

The burden of proof is now on you to show a $5 pack is 500 TRY, because you've already asserted that 2000 TRY is $60US (false, it is $45), and that the pack in the US only costs $25 (also false, it is $39.99). So you are being charged $45 for something someone in the US would pay $42-$43 for, depending on the State. I think tax can more than explain the $2-3 difference.

In any case, this is largely out of CG's control, and is a tired post that is likely to get deleted.
