TB Deployment Idea

Just a thought outloud... I wish guild leaders had the ability to deploy guild members' GP in TB. It's always frustrating to have to chase people down to do something as simple as deploy in TB.

  • Sounds a great idea.  15 minutes before the end the leader or officer could deploy all remaining GP if they wanted.

  • CG have stated many times before that they are not keen on allowing a player to control the way another player plays. They would certainly consider this as falling into that category.

Their stance makes complete sense. This post was born from the frustration of having people not deploying, despite being on at various points in the phase, and losing out on stars because of it. I suppose if it were to ever be a thing, there would have to be a lot of restrictions: like the reply above this, if there was 15 minutes left in the phase, and maybe add a toggle for members saying something like, "Do you give your GL permission to deploy unused GP 15 minutes before the end of a TB phase?" Just as an example. Another issue is simply being able to add something like that in the first place. But, yeah, I totally get their reasoning for shying away from it.

  • It's a good idea and they SHOULD let guild officers have more management of player teams, characters, deployable GP in TB and TW.  But, they don't want to let players have control of other players roster.  (Though, they're fine with 12 mil GP players manhandling other players in GAC that have 2 mil GP I guess.)

One of the things about MSF in their version of TW was that you built the teams and the guild leadership would move it around for defense in the best place possible.  I feel like they could do that because players still build their defensive teams, but guild leaders get to place them on defense.  (Though TW is still lame and boring because they haven't done anything with it for 4 years, so it needs an update and upgrade.)

Is it though?  Or is it more than how players control other players already?

To join any guild there are requirements, and things you are expected to do or be kicked.

In Ship Arena (and Arena previous) there are syndicates....mafias? in almost every shard that control the player base and control what they do.

All of which is out of CG's control.

Deploying a player's GP without their consent for the good of the guild (and the aforementioned player), with zero negative impact to said player is less controlling than the above 2 scenarios.

  • Too much of a bot move that will be open to multi-account/single owner guilds.  I understand the frustration when members don't log in on time but it will be too open for abuse.  Will never happen.

I disagree with both your scenarios being examples of controlling how a player plays here. And, crucially, so would CG.

In scenario 1, a player can choose to meet their guild’s requirements or choose not to. There’s no control. If a guild expects players to get 600 tickets, set defences in TW and hit a minimum raid score; the player has to physically do those things in game themselves to meet those requirements. CG don’t have an issue with that because the player has complete agency on whether or not these things happen.

In scenario 2, the existence of a fleet arena chat may control the rewards players obtain, but again, the players have to physically win the battles to reach their intended position. And if they don’t, or if someone else knocks them out of that position - they won’t reach that position and won’t earn those rewards. If you’re sitting in 2nd in Fleet Arena and the player who is due to take 1st is sitting in 5th, only that player can do something about that.

I too, as TB officer in both my previous and current guild for longer than I can remember, have experienced the frustration of members not deploying even when they are active in game and I’m not denying that there are times I wish the ability to force-deploy on other members’ behalf would have been a god-send.

There’s a big difference between a player altering how they play the game because of other players and other players completing in game actions on behalf of a player - no matter how harmless that action would be.

I think this is a great idea. At the same time, it should be possible to do this only 5-10 minutes before the end of the stage and the player should be active for at least a day.
