The more i think about this and how much this change affects customers i can only find one conclusion - scam.

Sadly we are not talking here about some online game or monthly payment based game, this is a game using real money to buy and advance in game. Changing something so drastically over few days leads to just pure scam or bait and switch tactic. This is however illegal to do so no matter what ToS says.
