Thanks for the Razorcrest fix CG!

I was wondering about this.

So, do they set the sector and vendor who has the shards, or is it random? Is it going to be the case that only folks who can get to sector 5 will have a chance at extra shards? If it's random, is there a chance of shards appearing multiple times during the same Conquest period?

I'm guessing it's pre-set, since they specifically said that shards were supposed to be in one of the sector 5 merchants. Most likely is that right now, they're meaning for Razor Crest shards to be available in normal mode only in sector 5, and there's probably more in hard mode but we don't know how many.

So, if you already selected the data disks, rather than the merchant that was supposed to sell the shards, you are out of luck? I am pretty sure most players given the option to purchase razor crest shards or disks, people would select the store with shards in them. I may be wrong, and the merchant is not one node where a selection was required, I apologize.
