You’re absolutely free to collect his shards or don’t collect his shards. If you’re not chasing the meta, don’t worry about it. They could put every character from every show, comic and video game into this sim and folks would still complain about why was so and so included, “he’s scum from Kathleen Kennedy era”, “that’s Marvel trash!” Etc
I’m more concerned with the Kit itself than the pixels wielding that OP kit. I see this specific Kit unbalancing GL’s which have a very high cost like Executor then being not as relevant. But he’s a conquest toon so it’s going to be awhile before we see any in game.
He is very obviously tied to Abeloth with that helmet and absolutely a Sith trained by Plagueis using Banes rule of two. What was never expanded upon was if Qimir was aware Plagueis was watching him and if Qimir had given up the Sith Creed trying to take Osha as his appreciate.

The Stranger is obviously a failed apprentice, as Palpatine became Plagueis' apprentice. I choose to believe that he splinters from the Sith and makes the Knights of Ren. It's a more interesting direction than "just another Sith", ties the Knights of Ren more into the lore, who desperately need it after their flop in the sequels, and also....you don't go putting Kylo Ren's motif over him without him having some connection to the Knights of Ren.

Actually, that’s a good catch on his attire being closer to Ren than to traditional Sith that we’ve seen on screen.
I still think he was tied to a faction that worshipped the Mother or she was speaking to him much the same as Baylan. Plageius also had an interest in Mortis, but that would be some super fan theory to tie SW 7-9, Clone Wars Series, Ahsoka, and Old Republic for minor characters who were never explained in movie other than standing on a rock in the desert peering into the distance.
