This game has always been very f2p friendly and super expensive for whales. Personally i don't think this "course correction" you're talking about is going to change that by much.
It mostly affects new f2p players negatively, me ( a 3y+ f2p player) will still be able to compete with the whales on my leaderboard quite easily.
