In terms of rewards, there's not much point imo. But it can make the difference if your guild can beat it or not.

Technically, yes. But 11x unique reward difference between first and last tier basically tells near-top people to abuse or disregard rules to guarantee yourself top spots and tell lower-end people do not care much because one piece, really? All of this will certainly "help" guilds to maintain good atmosphere and high degree of coordination.
