I disagree about AOE debuffs being the balance problem.
There are countless toons that have AOE buff effects for the entire team. Why shouldn't we have a way to clear them with an AOE dispell?
We're actually saying the same thing here - I just stated my case poorly.
So, because there are a few characters who have game altering aoe debuffs (daze, stun, ability block, etc), instead of strategy (which priority character should I stun?), it becomes "Get my Palp as fast as possible to group stun the other team".
From that came the "aoe friendly dispel" ability from characters such as GK, Chirrut, Rex. Suddenly, because so many 'meta' teams rely on aoe debuffs, these three characters make their way into top end groups, and now single target debuffs are almost laughably ineffective.
Put another way ... this is why the Phoenix Squad were dead on delivery. All their abilities, be they debuff or buff, are single target. Kanaan can single target remove debuffs from another character, which is pretty useless when the entire group is hit. Zeb can single target daze an enemy, which again is nice, but a far cry from "aoe Maul". All of these abilities, in an environment where aoe isn't so prevalent, are useful. But the way things are now ... why even bother?
The problem for me is that this is it, from now on. This is how things will be. Moving forward if a character doesn't have an aoe buff, debuff, or dispell, they better have a HUGE advantage elsewhere, or else why even bother?
Honestly, I would love to see any aoe ability, even dispels, only have a 50% max chance to succeed (ie. hit your group aoe and 2-3 characters will be affected on average), and any single target debuff have a 100% chance (before taking into account potency/tenacity).
Either that or fix tenacity so that it is possible to stack it and basically resist any debuff (even Nihilus!). Of course, by stacking so much tenacity, you'd be giving up crit chance, offense, speed, etc, so it becomes - do you resist everything, or hit hard and fast?
Just my two cents (of course, 2 cents Canadian is about 1 cent USD these days, so take it for what you will).
