He probably needed to hit it once or twice, but you have to remember different shards have different metas. My shard has a lot of Droid teams and Phasma leads with stunners, typically combined with characters that call in follow ups.
So droids and stunners are the meta teams I deal with everyday, Rey teams are actually easier to deal with than getting half your team stunned before you can deal any real damage.
