The wasted potential of omicrons

I have brought this up in the past but I seriously feel like omicrons really have fallen off lately. What used to be a chance to give tired and outdated toons some niche use have now become a nuisanc...

I just find the concept of making omicrons exclusive to new toons nowadays a step back. I mean qui gon was one of the noteworthy old school toons who got his time to shine again before his omicron had to be nerfed and it seems like what started as an easy "rework" has been forgotten about.
