Theory on GW matchups

Ummm retreat and then kill Maul first, is what I woulda done.

I didn't post that but I'll chime in.

You need the stars across the board for longevity. There is a fine balance of "enough" DPS. You want to do enough damage to kill the priority target and not so much that your healers can't finish a cycle. Healing every other node will make GW very hard in the second half.

Gear and stars will help tons.

but what my complaint was, the reason for this thread, is how can one finish it every day for 30+ days and all of sudden I face full 7* squads as of battle 3-4? When previously that would start as of battle 8-9-10

How does that make any sense?

And at this point, how in god's green earth am I suppose all of a sudden have 3 x 7* teams...

like no matter what comp you use... a poe/poggle/GS/rey/qgj squad will take out some toons or you'll use up all the abilities/come out crippled.

yeah of course having a better squad is the root of any solution.... but what you don't seem to read, which I've said numerous times, is that one day all is good, and I'm breezing through GW and booooooom the next day I'm facing full 7* squads as of battle 3-4 now.... doesn't make any sense.

Today was the toughest GW I've ever faced. My top toons are level 61 6* purple gear. I faced three squads of level 70 6/7* purple gear characters. It took a little work but it was possible

@LordStyling Of course i know how frustrated to face 3-4 lv70/7* team. i faced 3-4 lv70 in my node 9-12. I figured out some time it was player didnt have X heroes that could be a reason they not able to complete GW. That is why i need to see your squad. Now i know what is the problem.

Try get Daka to lv70 she is extremely useful. Many people recommend to have a Daka. She revive, stun, heal and was extremely helpful.


Ideal team: Phasama, Sid, Dooku, Daka, Lum. I use this squad and been dominated GW lately.

Looks like everyone is facing the same problem: the sudden, unprecedented appearance of maxed out (70, 7* & fully tooled) opponents in GW.
A few days ago there were the occasional lv 70 toons but not squad after squad of fully geared, fully starred 70s. (I'm mostly seeing them midway through GW)
GW has become markedly tougher after having been comparatively 'easy' for a bit - note there were also lots of complaints about how the change of the retreat feature made GW "too easy"

When I first got access to GW back in early Jan, I just managed to slog my way through the middle, buy my Lumi shards & restart the next day. From mid-late Jan I could just run through using an A team & a couple ringers. Of course that made sense given normal progression towards the cap. Now it looks a lot like it did before.

So what is the root cause of the new found trouble? Nobody really knows but assuming everyone faces the same problem and we haven't en-masse changed strategies it can only be a coding change from the Devs.
Why?
Well some will argue it's al about the money (though some would say that regardless)
I doubt that there has been a sudden infusion of new whales - looks too sudden a change for that
So my conclusion is that it is a coding change to take GW back to being hard to complete (in order to compensate for the 'new' way retreat works)
So what can we do?
Rethink strategy.
Guess for F2P that means farm more mid-level suicide squads to weaken the destroyer squads then send in the A-team to mop up
