I beat it months ago with
Ackbar(L) - G5(or 6 I forgot)
Wedge - G7
Biggs - G8
Leia - G8
Lando - G7

All of them had some crappy health mods, just so they could have a bit more survivability. So no, you don't need g11 toons.
