This is what my relic 5 - 7 is experiencing.

Facing some almost "miror" match VS a standart lvl 85 team in conquest and this is how it looks like.
can someone explain to me the logic behind that **bleep**?
I'm playing NORMAL mode, i have a squad fully boosted and i'm losing against some random 85 not even a single relic on them ????????? What the **bleep**???????????

  • Some teams counter others. Some don't.

Palp wins not by being tanky or doing the most damage. He wins by churning through bonus TM and using AoE stun to prevent you from doing anything on the few turns you get.

If they're faster than you and get their TM train rolling first, they will cycle infinite turns and will eventually crush you.

So How do you stop that? Well!

Hux prevents TM gain while he has Advantage if all his allies are First Order.

Jedi Master Kenobi is even better: If he's lead, then he shuts down all TM manipulation, period.

Admiral Raddus applies Daze to any Empire toon that gains TM. Which means that they get that first tiny bit of TM then get shut down.

Spirited Speed is a data disk that allows you to gain TM yourself: 2.5% for every buff you gain. Combined with the generous buffs to Raddus' allies and Cassian Andor's allies to start the battle, you should gain a huge TM boost and can often act first even when the Conquest enemy has a large advantage over you in speed.

And, of course, there are the Tuskens -- the all time greatest for shutting down TM hopping teams.

Heck, if you have the right zetas, you can use Jawas and Barriss Offee together and let them stun you, take a million turns, and destroy themselves with thermal detonators.

can someone explain to me the logic behind that **bleep**?

The logic behind the "bleep" of having some teams counter what other teams do well while other teams counter those in turn is ... that's how these games work. Different teams beat different enemies. Rock doesn't beat paper. Rock beats scissors. Rock against rock will go to a tiebreak, in this case who can pump out debuffs first, which largely comes down to speed, which is greatly affected by the ability "Overprepared" as well as by the sector you're in and how far you are through that sector.

Don't let your victory rest on a tiebreak that you can't predict (like whether a team whose speed you don't know is faster or slower than your team).

Bring a hard counter to TM jumping -- First Order with Hux, JMK, Tuskens, Raddus. Those are the sorts of things you need. Not a mirror. And especially not a mirror where you haven't modded your toons for flat out speed bc you normally don't need it with the TM gain. Hardly anyone wastes their best speed mods on a team that gains so much bonus TM, and I doubt you're different.

Conquest is a test of how well you know the mechanics of the game and how broadly you've invested in your roster. One good team isn't enough. You need different ones for different challenges. And you have to know when to use which squad. That's it. That's what Conquest is about.

If you want help in figuring what your options are, just drop a link to your SWGOH.gg account and I'm sure some folks would be happy to offer some helpful advice.

    Hey,

    thank you for your explanation.

But what really got me during this fight is the fact that i have better geared character than the AI and yet they still have advantage, speed, stun, everything better than me. yet they only are lvl 85 with 1 zeta lmao.
If they had like relic 5 - 6 yes i could understand but on normal mode? Vs a relic 5 squad? With golden mods? come on. I dont get that..

This is how conquest is designed. On one side the enemy with boosted stats and annoying modifiers, on the other you have your data disks and choice of team.

The teams in conquest all have significant stat boosts which mean they'll often take the first turn even if you expect to go first. Even in sector 1 of normal the teams at the end of the zone will have up to an extra 20% across all of their stats which will counter some of the benefits of your relic levels. This is partly because the PvE enemies have no mods, and partly also because CG want you to buy their stat boosters. The slight good news here is that the relic delta will actually work in your favour. Did the enemy team have the over-prepared modifier? That can make a massive difference too, especially to speed, and the advice Seedy gave on shutting down some of these runaway teams was top-notch btw.

Bottom-line, sometimes conquest really sucks. Once you get a feel for how much you want to put in to it that really does actually help though. Good luck!

I have to ask, have you NEVER beaten a higher-relic team by choosing the right counter?

If you can beat a higher relic team with the right matchup, so can the computer.

My r4-5* Rotta is constantly taking down entire squads by himself -- with everyone on the other side higher relic.

I beg you, if you hit an unexpected loss, rather than indulging in disbelief, just give people here your SWGOH.gg and ask people what they use to counter that squad or defeat that event. While people get a lot of push back for complaints (even justified complaints will get pushback from folks who have heard the same complaint before), you will be overwhelmed with love and helpfulness from other players who remember your frustration if you just show up and ask folks here what good ideas they have for solving your problem.

    Basically, what MasterSeedy said.

As you know, EP Empire teams are runaway TM trains and stun trains, and once they get their debuffs down, you might not get another turn (unless your counter has specific ways to stop them).

Also, mirror matches notoriously often come down to whichever team is faster, especially so if the teams are TM trains. And in Conquest, the enemy teams usually get huge artificial stat boosts, including speed.

Note also that daze, which Admiral Piett applies, shuts down bonus TM. So unless you can be certain to get the first turn (usually with Vader), then an EP team is an especially bad team to counter EP with Piett.
