This update isn't as bad as we thought!?

ALRIGHT I feel like we are missing something big here. The content creators and a lot of the community seem to be operating on this premise that a game is only fun if you are better than the other players you're playing with and if you're at the top of the pile... You guys say all kinds of stuff about how it's not fun anymore because it's P2W... You know why that's wrong? Because the model of this game was built on collecting and gearing up star wars characters. That's what we are all doing and you are saying that it's not fun anymore because someone else can do it faster than you if they spend money..... Read that again!

That's their prerogative to spend money And if they do, I'm happy that they are getting more character development and are able to reap the rewards of that sacrifice. It doesn't change the fun track I'm on because they are doing so. It's not a competition. The game only has one pvp game mode because it's not a pvp game. In ga, you are supposed to be losing half the time because it's a game mode that gives you another way to enjoy your roster but still needs to reward those who have been playing longer or paying.... Which it should! I would want to be rewarded for work or money!
I play because i get excited about the next chase and collecting the characters. For example, I chase jabba because he is fun to play with and so I can get the faster mod growth. I build my roster so I get further in conquest. I have personally seen the wisdom in CGs big changes like the great nerf, the grand arena skill match change, and now this. They aren't always perfect and sometimes their changes have to build up before they make sense... like how the nerf set up omicrons. They are building an environment where we can all get that rush of building your own unique collection. I'm f2p and love that I just finished profundity, not sad because I can't play with the new characters...oh wait! Now I can!... and I don't HAVE to play coliseum every day if I don't want to. There are still all the other game modes and if I choose not to play, then I'm still on the same track I was before, not having a high gear new character, which is fine. Plenty of other things to play with. Just please remember that despite what a lot of commentators are saying, a huge part of the swgoh fan base is here not for the competition but for the collection. For which this update helps.

Only counter I recognised the lag issue was Phoenix verses Inquisitors, I had the ROLO FDC on so all the assists was making it slow almost timed out as victory was 6s on the timer. So would really like them to improve on it.

I have seen you on other posts as well. So yes, you do have a problem. However, I would like to hear your actual input about the update before you go and troll other people for their input.

  • The update is actually good for me, I dont care about R10 and I wanted to catch up on old characters. But the update seems bad for the game in general. I don't believe whales are happy either, only people who see money as no object are unphased by these changes. And I'm not even sure about them considering you can't even use these era characters outside coliseum? So what exactly are people spending on? The *opportunity* for R10 materials?? The value is just so murky
I've tried to be positive about the update but the more you look at it the worse you realize it is, lol.

Relic accessibility changes: very good, all those R5s that didn't "need" R7 are gonna go to R7, R8/9 is easier to get. Best part of the update.

RD: people don't seem to realize how much easier it is now to build relics and at RD=0 all counters will work exactly as they did before RD. People also don't seem to realize that this enables a partial return to that old GAC strat when people would build a focused, lean roster to control GP growth and get easier matchups. Now a new player in Carbonite can build a Relic 7 KRU, plop it down on defense and watch Relic Delta farm wins for them. New players and small accounts will benefit from building tall instead of wide. That's as nuanced as I can be on day 3 of SWGOH 2.0. However, CG not checking whether it impacts JG events is braindead stupid.

Lag: worst thing about the update. Fleet arena climb is near impossible on mobile; Lev mirrors that should be a guaranteed win can time out now. Steaming pile of poo.

Coliseum: boring, but at least not a time sink. Collect your winnings from the previous leaderboard placement, do one or two attempts, level up your toons if you can, done in 5 minutes.

Era level upgrade system: sucks harder than vacuum.

New marquees in a walled garden: we get kit reveals 3 months before the character is usable normally instead of a week. After an Era ends, characters can be geared up, modded, and used in GAC/TW/TB/Conquest like the rest of the roster. This doesn't bother me. So what, Ahnald will do the SLuke test stream in February instead of November. Much ado about nothing, imo.

R10: it'll be a once in a blue moon upgrade for key toons in your roster (Bane, GLs, GL companions like Drogan or Ezra, tanks). It's in the same position that R9 was at first, decried as P2W and it turned out that most of the playerbase didn't engage with R9 beyond unlock requirements anyway.

Ok, I'm going back to trolling now.
