I would also be OK with the Tie Bomber being pilot less, just like the Y-Wing & Hyena.
That being said, IF a TIE Defender ever arrives, I hope it is based somewhat on the version from the 1994 PC game TIE Fighter.
Regular Lasers, Ion Canon, tractor and/or jamming beam, lots of missles etc. In other words, make this ship somewhat OP. The Empire faction needs a little bit of oomph.
This time, I hope the TIED gets a pilot. Perhaps Vult Skerris from Rebels or Baron Soontir Fel.
I know we are drifting into legends a little but I digress.
