Tired of Bleeding Money

I an just curious who else is sick of these devs continually rolling out new teams of characters and then setting up all of the events to need the new characters? For instance, when inquistors came out not long after almost every event now requires inquistors. Then Hutt Cartel came out, now every event requires them.

How about focusing on reworking some of the previous characters that are useless and revamping the store? I mean old players have millions of galactic war tokens, or arena tokens, and every other token because you have not updated the store in years and it is the same useless shards being offered. If nothing else at least rotate out the character shards that are available to buy each week. How about this, since you want to push inquistors and Hutt Cart on everyone, why not make the character shards purchasable with Arena tokens or War tokens?

All I am saying is it seems like you have this attitude that you are trying to bleed the player base dry before going out of business.

The game supposedly made over 1 billion dollars. I have no evidence whatsoever that a respectable amount of that came from whales as opposed to a broad influx of micro transactions from over half the players. I myself put $60 in this game 7 years ago. If that is the norm, this supposed catering to whales is just assumed fantasy. I'm not saying it is, just no evidence.

To keep a long term game like swgoh running, I would assume that it needs to be mostly profitable. Meaning it should generate income each month or fiscal year to cover it’s expenses. Which logically means that they probably do need to cater a bit to whales, or at least spending players. If that stops, the game becomes a drain on the parent company’s resources, and can lead to shutdown.

That billion dollars you are referencing is most likely a total figure, and I would wager that a significant chunk of it went back to EA to fund whatever they were doing. New games, hostile takeovers, fancy breakrooms, whatever.

“Almost every event” requires Inquisitors? “Every event” requires Hutt Cartel? This just isn’t true.

You’re answering your own questions here. Why would the devs make them purchasable with things older players have millions of? They’ve already stated their intentions with those stores: once you’ve farmed everything they are for shard shop currency.

As someone else pointed out, you don’t need to spend anything to play.

Not the point of this discussion.

Really? A discussion entitled “tired of bleeding money” isn’t about money?

No, it isn't relevant. Anyone can play the game and do well without spending anything at all.

If OP is upset about using money to play then there's an obvious solution.
  • Because spending / bleeding money into the game isn't providing the desired outcome. I'm not sure why or if 'bleeding' money into the game is either the problem, or the solution.

Strikes me as money isn't really the issue in this case.

What is the point of discussion then?

Your ideas don’t make any sense from a business standpoint… the newest characters should be very much free and easily accessible from the get go? Not much money in that kind of a business…

He's not asking for the new characters to be free or instantly accessible too everyone.

He and probably 95% of the player base is talking about being tired of the events revolving around the brand new squads that require spending hundreds if not closer to thousands of dollars on just to be able to do the events.

Another example of this nonsense is the Grand Inquisitor. They've decided to make it so his event doesn't come back around until after those who whaled out to get him first time around can play with his ship before anyone else can even play with him.

They are constantly giving the vast majority of the players the middle finger by making every new event after every new squad comes out require that squad.

They can't even manage to complete the gear updates too the game that were promised over a year ago at this point, but they can continue to create brand new characters.
