Vader's Tie Advanced

I would have been much happier seeing it as a new reward for completing achievements (the way Vader used to be). I'm bored of PvP and not really a fan of the tournaments. Anyone else feel the same?
  • Yup. 100% behind this. The tournaments are just a chore, tedious and boring, requiring hours upon hours to reach a position where the time investment pays off, BUT you can be extremely unlucky and have the whole thing ruined in the last few minutes (happened to me last time, when I missed getting a 5* Chirrut by SIXTEEN points). The tourneys need a rework to be more like Heists - lasting 24 hours max and once you participate, you can't do it again (giving others a chance).

And I like the idea of TIE Adv.x1 being the equivalent of Vader as a reward for achievements.

Especially since Vader is now farmable elsewhere...
  • This is how I play tournaments.

    I enter a defensive squad.

    I play a few rounds.

I then exit and go into data cards and spend my ally points on Bronzium's.

I enjoy the ton of extra shards I get and it's like playing slots.

Then the tournament ends and I get some further rewards.

Even last place gets rewards and player shards for the character and perhaps blueprints for ships will be the same. Unless your extremely lucky and powerful in your tournament shard it's not worth the stress of doing it any other way then to play a few and bail out in my opinion.
  • Since the tourneys r not based on beating specific ppl for placement and instead rely solely on points, there is an easy method to not spend hour after hour and to maximize your contribution:

Do all of your battles from 2 hours b4 reset until reset. U will face easier squads initially that u can use ghetto teams to beat, limiting your refresh costs.

Refresh until u find a team on the far right that u can beat. U maximize points per battle.

Since there r 2 refreshes where costs r reset, use 1/3 of the ally points u intend on spending each time. B4 1st refresh, b4 2nd refresh, after 2nd refresh.

These tips will minimize time and ally tokens expended and maximize points and placement.

That's not entirely true. The rewards CAN be worth it. Getting even a 4* Chirrut was a game changer for me. I now clear GW much more easily (and quickly), people avoid attacking me in the Arena, and all because I sacrificed a few hours last week. If the Vader TIE is even half as powerful as Chipmunk, it's going to be worth unlicking and people who get it will have a much easier life in the Fleet arena.
  • Depends what shard u r on. On mine, a 4* anything would entice ppl to attack me and since the top 20 in my fleet arena already have 6* and 7* ships, a 4* Vader would again be worthless to me, especially since i run the Endurance, not the Executrix.

December 2015. So an old one. And people have learned that even a low-star character can be dangerous. It was like this with the Shoretrooper and the same is happening now with Chirrut/Baze.
  • I agree. PvP tournaments are fun and all but it's designed so that the whales win. You pay money early get a ton of toons and keep spending money to rank up their star level and you'll have an unbeatable set of teams.

They then get out at the top of the table getting the tournament toon which then makes them even more powerful resulting in an unfair advantage on people who want to play F2P.

Look at what happened with Palpatine!
A bunch of whales who bought a ton of packs for toons and ended up with 7* star rebels while others were still grinding ended up getting Palp and crushing the arena with him.
He should be an achievement for doing ship achievements and leave regular Vader for regular achievements.
  • I hope they decide to reward the ship to more than just the top 100 this time. The amount of time spent battling and refreshing, as well as dealing with the RNG of it all. You should be getting better participation awards.

It wouldn't hurt the game to have the top 500 at least get the 4* base version, and then starting with top 100, award five, six, and seven star versions. That way your time spent and ally points used, actually gets you something. Shards/blueprints for a character/ship that will never be farmable isn't a reward, its just a tease.

It's not like this would be just handing it out either, there's well over a thousand people per shard, maybe more. So you would still need to use all your refreshes and spend a fair amount of ally points to reach that top 500. Who knows, maybe if people believe they have a shot at the character/ship we would see a lot more participation and competitive spirit.
