We don't need a pirate faction. Just stop, CG.

Setting aside the fact that pirates had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with Order 66 yet are being used in the raid (well not at launch, they're getting thrown in months later due to CG's garbage sense of planning), CG is going to turn this game in to Marvel Strike Force with all the redundant and overlapping factions. It's starting to get ridiculous.

Introducing a Pirate faction is completely pointless when we already have Scoundrel, Smuggler, Mercenary, and Bounty Hunter.  For the most part they all have the same function of "finding people and/or things for money and either killing them, transporting them, or stealing them".

Bounty Hunters, Smugglers, and Pirates are already Mercenaries considering they do what they do for money. And apparently they're ALL technically Scoundrels, which is such a pointless umbrella term that really only vaguely describes them as "unscrupulous or rogue".  Since when is a general personality trait enough to make it a faction??  If 50+ toons have the Scoundrel tag, it's too vague and at that point needs to be removed.

At this rate the Scoundrel toons are going to look like a teenage girl's instagram post with a dozen different tags. Some toons already can't fit all their tags in the description and need a "+more" button for you to click and see all of them.

  • Well, sometimes the scoundrel tag is needed, for example, by Aphra. But the fact that pirates are needed for a raid where, according to the canon, they did not exist at all is some kind of game.

  • Boba, Jango and Han are classified as scoundrels, but I wouldn't classify them as pirates

With other mercenaries, bounty hunters, or smugglers. He did all 3 of those things.

Right. Boba and jango are mercenaries and bounty hunters. Han is a smuggler and mercenary. Each one already has at least 2 factions they'd fit under.

I hate to defend cg, even remotely, but to say pirates simply didn't exist would be naive as all get out.  Pirates always existed.  You say pirates today in the real world and people think 1700's and 1800's and blackbeard and guys like that. There are still pirates in the world today.

Is it dumb to make them part of a raid they have nothing to do with? Absolutely. Are they being added - and likely will be the best team - because they think it'll make people fork out hundreds to get them to that level? Uh, yeah.  But have pirates been an integral part of anything in any movie or show? A close as you get is skeleton crew and Solo and the pirate presence has been fairly minimal. Though, as for the canon bit, the ship in skeleton crew crashed many years prior (in the prequel era), so i'm not really sure how canon ever said pirates were non-existent.

I suppose the could do the Pyke and Crimson Sun...maybe Xixor is the GL...who knows. Those things have been tangential here and there, but from a faction standpoint in ANY delusional 5v5 match, no pirate faction would stand a chance against a sith or jedi faction which is where things get a bit eye-rolling.

  • Nightcapser isn't saying Pirates didn't exist at all, but rather that they were not present in any way during Order 66. That's why adding them as allowed units is stupid.

The point I'm trying to make is that there are too many different factions for a group of factions that are all very similar with BARELY any differentiation.

CG is splitting hairs at this point by saying "there's no way that these new toons we're forcing you to use in the raid can fit in ANY other already-established faction, no way we could consider them smugglers or bounty hunters or mercenaries or scoundrels, so we have to introduce a new pirate faction for these special and unique toons". And of course they're gonna have the "scoundrel" tag too, so that will make 55-60 toons with the same generic and vague tag. For comparison Jedi has about 40, Sith has 22.

  • And remember folks,  to this day,  we STILL don't have a Scoundrel GL.

Because, you know,  JABBA was both a Bounty Hunter AND a Smuggler,  but is in fact, NOT a Scoundrel.
