I can chat in the game, buy stuff in the game, so...no, not a kids account...how would connecting to an ea account be something that's age restricted?

there are 2 age gates:
1. ingame age
2. EA Account age
both must be Adults age in your country.
to check your EA age:
go to EA.com and log in to your EA account... then go to account settings. check the age there.
