What grants speed?

What speed your character, in this case Anakin, has doesn't matter. It won't make a difference if he has 500 speed or 150. What matters is Gear/Relic level, Mod rarity (5 star compared to 6 star), zetas and or omicrons. Example:

• Both Anakins are G12 with the Zeta and 6 star mods. The Anakin who has more gear pieces equipped is going to have more speed.
• Both your and the enemy Anakin are R7 with the zeta. However, yours has 5 star mods while the opponent's has 6 star mods, so the enemy ship will have higher speed.
• Both Anakins are R7 with 6 star mods, but if you have his zeta on and the opponent doesn't, your ship will be faster.
• Both Anakins are R7, have the zeta, and have 6 star mods (just to clarify, upgrading from 5 star to 6 adds speed to the ship, upgrading from 6D to 6C or even all the way to 6A doesn't, it just gives your ship more GP and maybe a bit more HP), both are going to have the same speed.

Those are just the most basic examples I can give, but the point stands. How much speed, defense, offense, health, etc., the character doesn't impact those stats on the ship. What gives your ship more speed is gear/relics, how many 6* mods you have, do you have the zeta and/or omicron on (I can't say for certain about the omicron, I don't pay attention to that, but the zeta definitely adds 1-2 more speed to the ship).

Neither pilot power nor pilot speed influences ship's speed.

What influences speed is character's gear level or relic level, character's abilitiy levels (including zetas), and mods dots. 

In your example - it is hard to see entire Anakin's screen, but looks like all mods are 5* lvl 15 - so no difference here, but zeta is missing on one of them, meaning lower ability level, meaning less speed.

As you can see, mine has better mods and the Zeta. The other does not . So the other Anakin must have more g13 pieces, is that it?

Ok, yours is G12, but what about the other Anakin. What gear level is he? GP is only an indicator of how much you have upgrader the character in terms of gear, mods, abilities, it doesn't impact the stats on the ship. As to mods, I should be clear, it doesn't matter if your mods are all 5A or 5D. What matters is how many of them are 6 star (and, no, upgrading them from 6D to 6C to etc., doesn't give speed, just as upgrading from 5D to 5C to etc. doesn't matter either). Both you and the opponent have 5* mods on Anakin, that's what matters right now. Also, I repeat, it doesn't matter what stats your Anakin or your mods have, they have absolutely no influence on how much health/speed/etc. the ship has. You're going to have to give a bit more information as to the enemy Anakin's gear level, is he G12 also? If he is, chances are he has more gear pieces equipped than yours.

I bought two G12 pieces so we are now tied at 177 ship speed .

I still have a zeta, 3 yellow and mods and 1 purple mods to the the opponents 4 blue.

The only thing the opponent can have better than me would be the number of G12 pieces. Since he is not at relic yet it means he has less than 6, so 5 tops.

Which is 3 more than me. And since every two pieces = 1 speed, will mean that he has +1 speed compared to me when it comes to gear. If we dont account for the speed generated by gear, it only gives me the advantage of 1 speed. Even though i have the zeta and better mods

Only the mod rarity (the dots), not the grade (the letters) matter. 6 mk5 gold mods have the same effect on ship speed as 6 mk5 white mods.

Assuming opponent has 5/6 G12 pieces = + 2 speed.

My zeta gives me the +1 speed to tie him, since everything else is the same when it comes to abilities and stars on mods
