What is the fastest way to gear up a toon?

Lol the only way to get it fast is to buy crystals and whale it out.
Raids get you nothing. I haven't gotten cuffs or gun salvage since August, and that's the pit raid.
Requesting does nothing because everyone needs the same pieces, so you'll all likely sit there with 0/5 donated.
Saving crystals for gear is decent, but even placing 1st every day, it'll take you 3 days for one piece, when you need 30 gear pieces.
