let me settle this, qui-gon jinn used makashi so obi-wan used makashi when he was a padawan but makashi didn't have a defensive element so qui-gon died. Obi-wan switched to soresu after that. Again, Makashi is form II (Count Dooku literally has an ability called "Master of Makashi"). This form is very focused on lightsaber combat, so the idea that it doesn't have any defensive elements in it is laughable, as it was specifically designed to both disarm the opponent and protect the user against being disarmed. (thou all forms have defensive elements in them).
Form IV Ataru is very aggressive. It does indeed have more of a focus on offence than defence, but it biggest weakness was stamina. It wasn't suited for endurance battles (the exact opposite of form 3 Soresu in fact).
The pose Obi-wan assumes is the base pose of Ataru, which is also assumed by Yoda when he starts his fight with Dooku at the end of the second movie.
