What to spend crystals on after energy refreshes?

Is it worth spending crystals on kyrotech or gear? After spending crystals on energy refreshes I still have a small net income of crystals every day. With things like GAC event rewards and other thing...

It may very well be, but I'd rather spend my very, very plentiful SSC than spend crystals. I mean, what is the SSC going to do if I don't spend it?
