That’s human nature Hotsauce, it’s called moral hypocrisy.

Those guilty themselves point out others while taking a far lighter view of their own transgressions. We convince ourselves that the violation is not all bad, perhaps because others may benefit from it, or we remind ourselves of ethical actions we have recently performed.

Kind of like, I don’t speed in my car ever but you pulled me over today for doing 80 in a 45 but not the white BMW that passed me doing 110 because I was on my motorcycle.
