- The reason is obvious, you wouldn't have to spend crystals on energy refreshes. Less money for CG

"Giime all your crystals" is the internal reason.
Well if that's what they really wanted, they wouldn't give every active player a couple hundred free every day.
Look, I get that CG isn't Unicef. They're a business that wants to make money off their product in this era of end-stage capitalism. But you act like they're holding you upside down by the ankles and shaking you until your loose change comes out, then they grab your keys and dig around your sofa cushions. You really don't have to spend anything to compete in this game."NicWester;c-1585902" wrote:

Of course they would. It's another way of encouraging spending in case of those who are not willing to pay on a whale level, but they would spend some money: 'Hey, I got 1350 crystals from the free stuff, so I refresh cantina energy once, and regular energy once, and I will still have 1200 crystals, so if I buy a Pouch of Crystals, I can also get an Mk5 Stun Gun Prototype from shipments for 1400, and I can get someone to G11 just in time before TW.'
I'm aware that the majority of EA/CG's revenue is not coming from this, but this psychological approach still exists.
You really can fit anything into your grand unified field theory, can't you?
New stuff? Plot to take your money.
Rework old stuff? Plot to take your money.
Giving you stuff for free? Plot to take your money.
Everything is a plot to take your money obviously."NicWester;c-1586157" wrote:

It is said in almost every discussions in this forums by you and many others that the devs are working for profit, so basically yes.
Yeah, they're here to make a profit because mortgages are cheaper in Sacramento, but cheaper doesn't mean cheap. But that doesn't mean it's all some twelve-dimensional chess gambit to plunder your bank account. If it is, they're either really bad at it or I'm a super genius playing in thirteen dimensions because I haven't spent anything in over a year and a half.
And you do it well. But not everybody is super genius like you. And I think that you being super genius you know that big companies, and even small groceries on the corner, utilize psychology to sell their products. And if you look at the revenue estimates, you can see that EA/CG is veeeery far from being really bad at it."Xezee;c-1586365" wrote:
It's not a plot. It's a business plan.
It's a business plan, for sure. That's not at issue. The issue is whether it's a fair plan or not, and in my opinion it's very fair. The "grand unified field theory" I referenced is how some players can connect a great big web of red string to prove that literally everything is some devious underhanded tactic to steal your money.
The options are to count ship energy toward the cap and leave the cap at 600, which cuts into spending and makes raids more frequent, and while that's great for us, it doesn't really do a whole lot for them. Raising it to 900--or even 800--would mean you HAVE to make a purchase to cap things out, which would be awful for players. Keeping the cap where it is and not counting ship energy is a good compromise that gives the best of both options--raid frequency remains unchanged, we don't have to spend to hit the cap, and we get 16.5 free shots at good gear a day."Xezee;c-1586626" wrote:
Apparently spending ship energy doesn't count in guild activity "Energy in battles" which says "Spend any energy".
Please don't make an argument this is by design, because Wednesday activity was changed (from GW nodes) same time ships rework and ship energy introduction were announced. Design was obviously to incorporate ship table to guild activities rotation.
And it doesn't work.
What it actually says is "Spend Energy/Cantina Energy," not "spend any energy."
There are three types of energy, you can verify this by tapping the count on the UI:
Ship Energy, which is used in ships, duh-doy.
Cantina Energy, which is used in Cantina and mod challenges.
Energy, which is only used for light/dark squad battles.
If they intended for Ship Energy to count, the activity would read "Spend any energy" or would specify that ship energy counted. I mean, yeah, you're right that calling generic light/dark energy just Energy is a little ambiguous. But it's still working as intended."NicWester;c-1586641" wrote:

I'm impressed by how are trying to make everyone look stupid in a non-offensive manner.
And just in case you didn't notice it earlier, here it is:
Here's where you took your argument from:
This is a common mistake for newer players to mistake guild activities with raid ticket generation.
And in case there was any doubt about nomenclature:- I will not continue to discuss with you NicWester, you make an argument and before anyone can make counterpoint you move straight to insults. This may or may not be offensive when you check the wording, but it's devised to make your opponents - so to speak - move one step further and cross the line.
I did make a mistake - spent energy in full 100s, so didn't notice the difference right away.
Thank you for making me notice.
Also, I'm putting you on the ignore list as your way of speaking in unacceptable for any grown up. "Eddiemundie;c-1591071" wrote:

One 50 crystal energy refresh and you're done.
But it’s really alot for someone who doesnt finish top 100 in SA or top 50 in FA. That’s practically all your crystals from daily gw and tasks, leaving u with whatever miserable SA payout u got.
I used to refresh Cantina every day and finished top 200 in arena, never gotten any crystals from fleet. You can do alright with that. Right now I don't refresh at all, though, tired of having so many characters bottlenecked by raid gear and I earn each one a full 10 days faster without refreshing (why not two weeks faster? Still need to refresh once on Sunday and Monday for the guild activity!).
If 600 a day is that important to you, you can hit it with four refreshes a week. Maybe less. All I know is I do the cantina one late Sunday and early Monday, that puts me at 600 and I have ~140 regular and ~120 cantina energy at 7:30 Monday night, which makes hitting 600 without a refresh on Tuesday easy. Wednesday easy. Thursday is a stretch. Friday do a regular energy refresh (means more shots at stun guns is all) and that'll carry you through Saturday. Sunday you might need the fourth regular energy refresh, as you're probably going to save as much cantina energy as you can so you hit the Sunday night guild activity with as close to 144 as possible. All told that's 300 crystals a week, but you could do it for 200 if you do regular energy refreshes.
Alternatively, and it's going to sound like I'm being flippant but I promise I'm not, but alternatively you could just try not caring. Miss 600 one day, then carry all that energy over to the next day and hit 600 no problem without spending any crystals. Usually when you're frustrated in the game, the secret is to stop caring and just play without worrying about optimization or full completion--just do it for the sake of doing it and not worry about consequences.- It’s no oversight. They claimed math was the reason.
- O_o what do you spend them on? I have 18k and they are still growing incredibly fast...
