Why the negative backlash for new shard farming update

Aside from the increased prices in shard shop I don't see why there's been so much hate for this update. I mean double drops for any toon that has been in the game for at least a year is great especia...

I've been playing for about 5 years give or take and having never spend a dime on this game I just feel that the shard farm has always been a nightmare being worse than gear farming due to the limited attempts and the costs for refreshes just for a mere 5 shards if I was lucky. I play on a crystal income of like 170 a day so getting a little help on shard farming is a blessing in my eyes.
