Why we need a sandbox like mode to play in

calling a live PVP arena where you are competing for prizes and rank is absolutely not a sandbox mode. Sure, it is a mode that you can play endlessly, but you have no control over opposing team, and you choose your team before matcmaking. It has barely 1 element of the many that have described a sanbox mode on this forum.

A sandbox mode would be cool, but not really worth the time that could be spent on a mode with rewards that would thus work on the gear crunch. Or a raid. Or even live pvp (not that i am really a fan of that).
