It also got rid of all the garbage from the EU. Also TLJ was good. It had dumb parts but literally every single Star Wars film has had worse.

There was certainly a lot of EU garbage: anything with the Vong, the crystal star, the sun crusher.

That said, stuff like the original Thrawn trilogy, the Xwing series, and even far in the future stuff like Legacy are infinitely better than the garbage plot lines we got from Disney.

The TLJ was an entertaining movie, but it and TFA failed miserably at creating cohesive plot-lines and logical, interesting world building.

Must suck to be you if you couldn't enjoy a genuinely beautiful movie that had at the very minimum excellent acting and a great storyline focused on Rey/Luke/Kylo. The rest was just filler but comparing that filler to AOTC and saying TLJ is worse is objectively incorrect.

For every Thrawn we had multiple Vong though. And I wouldn't say either failed, they just didn't focus on it because we've already had 40 years of world building. Especially when the biggest criticism of the prequels was that all it was was world building without being entertaining or having interesting characters.

No one ever said AOTC was overall better than TLJ. It’s just that AOTC has some things that people want to go back and see. The fight scenes were amazing, and.... well that’s it pretty much. TLJ has plenty of dumb, boring, and pointless stuff in it, but has no silver lining to look back on. The fight scenes are terribly coriagraphed, the character motivations outside of kylo ren make no sense, and all of the things tying the series back to the OT are dead by the end of the movie or are ignored. If people are too blind to see the flaws in this movie then there’s nothing we can do to help them.

The opening space battle was ok and throne room fight scene was fun. As was Luke Tanking the entire First Order like a Boss. I thought both Holdo and Rose were fine, although I know I'm in the minority.

Rest was pretty bad. I still dont get the whole casino thing. I literally just dont even know how someone decided that part was ok to release. It literally had no point.

My kids didnt even like it and they like anything with "poo" or "fart" remotely associated with it.

The whole Luke vs Kylo thing was cool, but it could have been made better and actually made sense. It got us all hyped for the first and only lightsaber duel in the entire movie, then they take it away. Then they add insult to injury and just have Luke peace out at the end. If they were going to have Luke die immediately after, there was no reason for Luke to just actually be there and fight Kylo.

Because people are sheep. Case in point, the steaming pile of garbage that is “The Wrestler” has a 98% because everyone was told Mickey Rourke did a marvelous acting job, when in fact he was just being himself. Then again maybe everyone just upvotes it due to the Marissa Tomei nudity?
