Whales can gain an advantage in nearly all aspects of the game, not just mods. Zetas are the one holdout right now, and people would like to keep one thing that can't just be bought and has to be earned through gameplay.
But why? The lack of zetas (regardless of source) is hurting the bottom line for this game. Lots of spenders of all types have 0 pressure to spend on gear because they don’t have the zetas to use anyways.
I don’t agree with the argument that the ability to purchase zetas, especially in limited quantities, would put too much of a difference between F2P and whales. First off, that gap is way, way too small right now to begin with, which is a big reason why revenue for the game has declined sharply. Second, the zetas most people would buy extra are not on the top teams. It’s the lesser teams that people want to have fun with. I don’t think increasing the strength of those teams for only P2P is going to harm the game.
