The only real measure of a zeta crunch is
(NewZetaRequirementsAdded)/Year vs. (ZetasEarned)/Year
If CG limits the search to players who were active on 350+ days over the last year, then averages the number of zeta mats earned per active player, we get a real snapshot of what zeta mat income actually is -- not what it could be if people did X or Y, but what it is.
Then just multiply new zeta abilities added to the game over the last year by 20. Usually that's all the zeta abilities of the new toons, but occasionally there's a reworked toon that gains a zeta ability (or an Omi ability that requires zeta mats to activate).
Then... compare.
It's not really for any of us to say. It's just something that CG needs to look at. They can do the math in a way that none of us with our anecdotes can do.
Once they have the numbers though ... it's a policy decision. Just because zetas are earned faster or slower than they are required by new abilities doesn't automatically mean that the supply has to be tightened/loosened. There was a stun gun crunch for a year or two after I thought we should have moved on from stun gun limiters to Kyro limiters. Many of us think that with Omis as the new top ability, zeta mats should become as irrelevant as purple ability mats were for the past three years. But, again, that's a policy decision. Math doesn't tell you "should". That's why when I raised this issue a couple weeks ago I simply asked CG to take a look and decide if it's consistent with their vision of what they want from the game. That will depend on a number of things, including how much money they're making from selling zetas.
Anyway, they know that some (many?) people are dissatisfied. We'll find out their response on their timeline, not ours.
