They took away most of the TM gain and replaced it with TM removal, then made the next meta immune to TM removal. What a coincidence.

I wouldn't be so certain of that. The only thing that we got which could theoretically lead to an infinite loop were the first special and the leadership.
The rest of the kit was very much a solid buff in my eyes, so if they change it completely again then it'll likely cause even more problems
