The mod recommendations is indeed most of the time very wrong.
Regarding 5's mods. There are several options. If you use fives in an SLKR counter, you want fives to be modded for defense and health because he'll not sacrifise (SLKR targets fives before anything else) and you want to keep him alive as long as possible. If you use him in a regural 501st squad and you don't counter SLKR with him, i'd go for offense and speed
