Gear level is the key for tanks, once you have g7 and protection you will see that every gear level greatly improves this value. My STH is my first char I geared to g11 (~30k protection with mainly mods).

Buy every Wedge shard in the fleet store, always have enough tokens when they appear. I use double tank so SF instead of Lando, when the enemy uses any other lead than Lando. Against Baze, shoretrooper or RG, SF is great. STH can get the speed mods so he taunts first and gives SF turnmeter, so right before STH dies you can taunt with SF.
