Beskar Mando's Bonus Turn in Galactic Challenge

I have a super technical question - It revolves around the TM rules and who goes first. This pertains to the last galactic challenge of Takodana: Droids vs Resistance, which ran from 5/28-5/30/21.

I think something wasn't working as intended with Beskar Mando. In that galactic challenge, when RH Finn uses his first special (Strength of Will) he hits a scoundrel (normally Kuiil) to below 75% HP and TM swaps with RH Poe. His kit specially says, "...swap turn meter with another resistance ally..." As RH Finn was taking a turn, this means that RH Poe should have 100% TM now.

Beskar Mando TM bar also fills up to max, showing his bonus turn has registered, but RH Poe (who just gets TM gain, not a bonus turn) always went first before Beskar. Bando's kit specially says, "The first time each Scoundrel ally falls below 75% Health, The Mandalorian (Beskar Armor)... takes a bonus turn."

When I read through the post about the changes (source: https://forums.galaxy-of-heroes.starwars.ea.com/discussion/234241/turn-meter-speed-overflow-changes), I see "NOTE #1: Units who have been granted a bonus turn are subject to the same rules, but they will take their turn before anyone who has not been granted a bonus turn." Based on this, shouldn't Beskar Mando go first because the bonus turn overrides the TM gain? Or is TM swap considered a bonus turn? Or have I completely misunderstood and this is only a case of speed (because they both should have same overflow)?

This was really bugging me and I reproduced this every time for a half dozen attempts (sorry, no video).

Extra Note: This seem to only be the case in the galactic challenge. I tried to see if the same thing happens in conquest against a resistance team, but in when I reproduced the same scenario in conquest (RH Finn knocking a Scoundrel to below 75% health with Strength of Will and passing turn to RH Poe), Bando took his bonus turn before RH Poe went.

Thanks so much for any comments. Cheers,
Jeromy

I noticed that too, but my Beskar Mando is low gear I just try that for fun and not rely on him to get anything . I was expecting that extra turn would save IG-11 which has pre-taunt but the bonus turn always after Poe.
  • I believe that TM Swaps have the same priority as Bonus Turns. Possibly greater priority, actually - I know they were made to be intentionally faster than 100% TM, back when Thrawn came out (which was before both Bonus Turns at large and Overflow rules).

So it’s either RNG as to which goes first, or the TM swap goes first in all cases. Bonus Turns shouldn’t get priority over TM Swaps.

Did you tried to compare speed of Poe and Bando? GC toons on higher tiers often have crazy stats and in situations where speed is tiebreaker (assuming that swap and bonus turns have equal priority) they will go first. Regular Poe may just be slower that Bando.

If TM swap and bonus turn have the same priority, then it could indeed explain the situation. Based on the fact that they changed the mechanism of bonus turn orders (e.g. Han's Shoots First). There no RNG factor involved anymore who shoots first. Both take bonus turn, but the faster Han always shoots first. In GC, I assume Poe has higher speed than Bando. Thus he always goes first if there is TM parity.
  • Thank you, Jeromy for posting this question. I reached out to a dev and got the following response:

"This is definitely working as intended. In that post they linked, NOTE #2 indicates that Turn Meter swapping will go first. To provide further clarity, it should be noted Turn Meter swap is intended to trump bonus turns."

    Hope this helps
