Capital ship gaining TM out of the blue

You each have the same exact speed, so each time it's a coin flip as to who goes first. You won the first 3 coin flips, and he won the 4th.

No, it’s not impossible. It’s how the game works. You have the same speed, so you hit 100% TM at the same time for the entirety of the match, unless something else manipulates that TM.

You win the coin toss, but the enemy ship was at 100% TM so he goes before you gain any TM. You are now both at exactly 0% TM. You and he will continually hit 100% TM together.

Edit: also, all combat is done locally, so if cheating is involved it would be by you, the attacker.

By your logic you cheated each of the 3 times your capital ship went first.

As has been stated more than once, if nothing happens to manipulate turn meter and both ships have the same speed, the bars will fill at the same rate. It's disappointing that the game shows your capital ship as having a partially filled bar - that must be a visual bug. There's nothing within the mechanics that allows your executrix to consistently go first.

You can't have both players moving concurrently in a turn based mode. And that's what is needed for a coin toss, concurrent movement. Otherwise, it's not turn based. ERGO, if what you say is true, then it's a cheat, a way to skirt rules.

And btw, if you think a program can't cheat...u'r naive!

I've no interest in either side of the argument, but they weren't calling you a cheater, as he said "if". It's conditional on cheating taking place, which you've assumed and they haven't.

That's calling me a cheater...when you say "if cheating is involved it would be by you".

No it is not. He is stating that the only person who could conceivably cheat is you, the attacker i.e. the defender cannot possibly cheat (because combat resolution occurs on your local client application). That is not the same as accusing you of cheating.

It is clearly not turn based. Ships accumulate turn meter (or initiative) based on their speed. Once a ship has a full bar, it gets to take an action.

If two ships reach full bar at the same time, the game must decide which goes first. Apparently it picks at random each time.

I don't believe "Empire allies" includes Capital ships. They have to be called out specifically for an ability to affect them.

I got it. It's EA's rule for this game. It makes absolutely no sense, but, it's da rulz! I can understand this when there's a difference in TM but at some point, both characters/ships reach full TM at the same time...that's an exception. But in this case, it's just like chess, soccer, backgammon etc. The only "coin toss" happens in the begining and that's it. You don't see the players coin tossing throughout the game, it's one and done! By doing this, you're trading strategy for RNG, a thing EA seems to love.

The reason that most sporting events have only a single coin toss is because the fairness lies in each side getting a chance to have the advantage; the coin toss is only to see who gets the advantage first, not who gets to have advantage throughout the entire game. In point of fact, overtime often calls for a second coin toss (or jump ball).
It would be one thing if you wanted to argue that after the first coin toss, both sides should alternate who wins a TM tie, but to argue that whomever wins first should win throughout is not arguing for skill vs. RNG.

Yes, you are right...coin toss is used in every turn based game...like chess, backgammon, poker, rummy etc. Oh, wait...they don't. They either use one single coin toss for the entire game, thus giving the advantage to the winning player. OR they alternate, to even out the odds. However, they do not use coin toss every single time. Because by doing that, they eliminate the possibility to have a coherent strategy.

I wouldn't mind having alternating turns in cases of TM ties. IT WOULD ALLOW ME TO FORM A STRATEGY! But, that was the main cause of your 3 ship downgrade, there was too much strategy in the 5 ship start-up. You couldn't have the players using their heads... That would mean less reliance on MONEY to win. If we'd have the ability to strategize, the "biggest army" would be less of a factor, which is bad for your pockets.

I have no problems with people making money, but i have a problem with people lying that it's not about making money but making the game better :))

Any fixed system would actually take away from the startegy, since you cant increase speed past X in ships. You would know that right after that initial coin toss if you were going to win or lose with a fair amount of certainty. That's not strategy.

WHAT? That is pure nonsense! Please read again what you just said, I am giving you another chance to rewrite that statement and not make a fool out of yourself!
