Especially since many Empire toons have some very nice debuffs on their basic (Vader, DT, Palp, TFP and even RG) - TFP's is sheer damage. Obviously you have to pick just 4 (or less if you want to run something else in there) - but there are some solid choices.

Too late, nihilus drained your cool downs :worried:
Battles last more than 2 turns.
Maul daze is normally the first attack done followed by dn CD reduction. A high speed cleanser can easily get a second turn to cleanse daze and let the counter attacking happen

C'mon man. I bet if they had a droid lead with 50% counter chance you would be coming up with all kinds of theories why Maul daze wouldn't stop them.
I think for all intents and purposes you are finished after two rounds- Not that it's not a good leader, it's great, empire have some incredible basic attacks, but vs maul with empire as it is, I think you will get bent over. They are still getting additions and changes though, let's see
- wait, does Gar's unique mean... that if he's one of the 5 toons in a squad with GK... and say GK puts retribution on the whole team, then that team gets hit with an AOE
does that means all 5 toons counterattack, and then, Gar hits... what 4 more times?

Considering I have used Nihhilus' annihilate ability twice in several arena battles, I beg to differ. In high level arena with 7* fully geared and maxed everything, arena battles go several rounds - and sometimes aren't decided until the very end. In fact I just finished one where my Nihilus (with no protection) and enemy Boba were the only two left. And Boba had just revived with full protection and Nihilus had to force drain to get his 2nd annihilate ready for him. So that went 5-6 rounds and wasn't clearly decided until Nihilus was able to stop Boba from ability blocking him.
That's not even taking into account Jyn revives, or Zylo going off on 1 vs. 3, etc.- Are people missing the obvious ISC synergy, where paired with Gar, the ISC has a 100% counter chance, can counter twice against targets below 50% TM and call Gar to assist on both hits - inflicting both offense down and speed down when operating together?
Gar isn't going to be a game defining leader - but I'm pretty confident someone is going to pin down a devastating Gar ISC team - possibly paired with TFP, EP, RG -- etc. - scuba759 years agoLegend

Agreed. with all the anti crit now arena battles can go multiple rounds before things are decided. Most of the time opponent DN can't use his Annihilate till 3rd or 4th rng.

Yeah but this is absolutely the worst meta in the history of the game to introduce a counter leader that doesn't seem to add any speed / TM skills. You have AOE stun and AOE daze leading off matches.

Here's the problem as others have noted, there's no real place for counter-attackers in this meta aside from maybe zKylo but his counter-attack is not why he's there. Maul's Daze is an absolute shut-down of counter-attackers and the Empire do not have a cleanser (yet), so an Empire squad around them is top-200 material at best; at least in a heavy Maul zeta. If this were the Wiggs meta, yeah they would be rock-stars. But they're too slow and basically must be run with Rex to even have a chance to use their abilities. Even then I think it's a stretch, my Maul squad as zero issues with Rex. Rex, Gar, ISC, Chaze might be competitive, but I can't see any other combos, not yet at least.- scuba759 years agoLegend

Agree definitely not going to work with out a fast team cleanse. - SadSpartans9 years agoNew SpectatorI won't battle with him in arena but could develop fun comps with him in GW, thinking about building an all counter squad with him, dooku, fives, AS, whoever fits in.
