GMY ignores the status effects rules

Now, regarding the whole tm gains and bonus turns, what I see in the game is the following:
GMY has stagger and full tm, so he attacks with his aoe.
GMY lands back to his place, has stagger and his tm is full.
Thrawn counters the aoe while gmy has full tm
Stagger gets activated (and thus expires) but gmy still has 100% tm.
The turn meter is not being reduced by the counter and then refilled for the bonus turn. Gmy will just ignore the whole stagger effect and continue normally with his next attack. Nowhere in his ability states that he is immune to tm reduction as far as that turn is concerned.
GMY's bonus turn is not just a bonus turn. It's an immediate bonus turn which guarantees that he performs the next action. What you see and describe is intentional.
