How does reinforcements work for fleet battles?

I was always under the impression that your reinforcement order when you set a fleet on defense gets called in the same way that you set it. However, my executor that I have on defense called my reinf...

Thanks for the screenshot wolf cast, I'm going to save this. 800 crystals down the drain because I wasn't aware this was a thing and the AI picked a relic 3 intercepter over my relic 8 slave 1 on a executor fleet.
