Tenn Graneet fired the weapon.
He was the head Imperial Gunner in the Elite Unit of Death Star Gunners that destroyed Alderaan. His finger was on the button so too speak. This was following a test that took 3 hits to destroy Despayre. Not sure if that test took place before the end of Rogue One or shortly after, but I assume after. I cannot get into specifics about the movie, but there would be very little time between the end of Rogue One and the destruction of Alderaan casting doubt on if the director took this test into consideration.
Except none of that is canon.
