@xpxnx, I just dropped 1400 crystals on a fusion furnace to get an arena character to gear 9, and don't feel bad about it, heh heh. I need 450 fusion furnace salvage to meet all my needs. The only way to make that happen in my self-chosen timeframe was to pay for some of them. I’ll probably end up buying every other fusion furnace and gathering the rest. That is $40 in cash, or the cost I used to pay for computer games back when we used to buy them at Best Buy (I am old).
It's just unrealistic to wait two months for a gear 9 arena team. I agree it is sad that spending a bit is basically necessary to be competitive as F2P. The gear bottleneck is very real, and very likely by design. When the bottleneck happens, F2P players usually start dropping in the standings because they can’t gear up as quickly as the payers. The answer to maintain position is to acquire more gear. If you can’t get it fast enough, you hit the various shops to augment what you can grind. The thing is when everyone throws cash at the problem, then no one is F2P anymore. They played me like a fiddle and I didn’t see it until it was too late. I was a little grumpy when I first made the connection. Then I was impressed by how masterfully it all unfolded. Those EA guys really know what they are doing (whether we like it or not).
