Is CLS the same as bespin Luke?

To me he looks the same and if he is... Why no jedi tag? I mean when he left for bespin he never got any more jedi training, that I am aware of, cuz when he came back to dagobah yoda died very soon after.
So is there a reason he isn't a jedi? Im sure jedi players would love this and it wouldn't change anything about him.

Ok I get he's not a jedi KNIGHT but isn't he still a jedi padawan? Ahsoka is a jedi in the game and she never became a knight.

The Dev's say that Ahsoka and Barris (both jedi padawans) get their jedi tag, because that was their way of life - being a part of the jedi order since very young and were jedi younglings before becoming padawans. Hevnce their jedi tag.

But what about Ezra? The Devs said in a podcast that Ezra (as seen in game) is season 3 Rebels Ezra and was very much on the jedi path at this point, hence the jedi tag. They also said if the game had season 1 Rebels Ezra, he would not have a jedi tag.

So lets look at the "Ezra Rule" to the game. Farm Boy Luke would be very much the same as a season 1 Ezra and FB Luke does not have a jedi tag, and that is fair.

However CLS, as he appears in the game is from Bespin - at the end of TESB. At this point, Luke is also very much on the "Jedi Path" as well, having been apprenticed to both Old Ben and Yoda.

Furthermore, Yoda never taught Luke anything further from before he left to travel to Bespin and when he returned in ROTJ, and Yoda states that "No more training do you require".

Yoda went on to confirm that his Jedi Knight status would be rewarded only when he confronts and defeats Vader.

At no point is Luke not considered a "Jedi" he is merely not yet attained the rank of JEDI KNIGHT.

Therefore, CLS requires a Jedi tag in this game - he is no different to the Season 3 Ezra Rule of jedi tag.

    Thank you, sir.
I was going full out nerd rage mode on, but you wrote it very well.
I've said it a thousand times before: the only non jedi interaction of Luke should be Farmboy, for everything else he should be a jedi.
He was (and probably is) the most iconic Jedi in the saga; heck, even in ANH he blows up the Death Freaking Star using the FORCE.
CLS not having a jedi tag is an outrage to the franchise and unless the devs tell me it was George Lucas himself who gave the order, making CLS rebel only was a terrible decision.
  • Oh man, I guess you @Olga and me are doing this again. Fine.
This is taken from Wikipedia and it talks about the plot to Empire Strikes Back, so lets assume its the common knowledge on the matter:

    Plot
Three years after the destruction of the Death Star, the Rebel Alliance has been driven from their former base on Yavin IV by the Galactic Empire. The Rebels, led by Princess Leia, have set up a new base on the ice planet Hoth. The Imperial fleet, led by Darth Vader, continues to hunt for the Rebels’ new base by dispatching probe droids across the galaxy.

While investigating a potential meteor strike, Luke Skywalker is captured by a wampa, a yeti-like creature. He manages to escape from its cave with his lightsaber, but soon succumbs to the sheer-cold temperatures and collapses. The force ghost of his late mentor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, instructs him to go to the Dagobah system to train under Jedi Master Yoda. Luke is found by Han Solo, whose tauntaun collapses and dies, and then he uses its warmth to keep Luke warm while he sets up a shelter. Han and Luke make it through the night and are rescued by a search party.

On patrol, Han and Chewbacca discover the meteor Luke had planned to investigate is actually a probe droid, which alerts the Empire to the Rebels’ location. The Empire launches a large-scale attack, using AT-AT Walkers to capture the base. Despite great resistance, the Walkers destroy the base's shield generator and force the Rebels to retreat. Han and Leia escape on the Millennium Falcon with C-3PO and Chewbacca, but the hyperdrive malfunctions. They hide in an asteroid field, where Han and Leia grow closer, and eventually, kiss. Vader summons bounty hunters, including the notorious Boba Fett, to assist in finding the Falcon. Luke, meanwhile, escapes with R2-D2 in his X-wing fighter and crash-lands on the swamp planet Dagobah. He meets a diminutive creature who is revealed to be Yoda; after conferring with Obi-Wan's spirit, Yoda reluctantly accepts Luke as his protege. Yoda trains Luke as a Jedi, and raises his sunken ship from the swamp with the power of the Force, after Luke claims it to be impossible.

After evading the Empire, Han travels to planet Bespin, where a floating colony in the skies known as Cloud City is. Cloud City is run by Han's old friend, Lando Calrissian. Unknowingly, the Millennium Falcon has been tracked for the Empire by Boba Fett; shortly after they arrive, Lando leads the group into a trap and they are handed over to Darth Vader and Boba Fett. Vader plans to use the group as bait to lure out Luke, intending to capture him alive and take him to the Emperor. During his training on Dagobah, Luke sees a premonition of Han and Leia in pain in a city in the clouds and, against Yoda's wishes, leaves to save them.

Vader goes back on his agreement with Lando to let Leia and Chewbacca stay in Cloud City and instead, takes them into custody. He intends to hold Luke in suspended animation in a block of carbonite for delivery to the Emperor. To test this process, he selects Han to be frozen against the protests of Fett, who fears he will lose his bounty. Vader hands the frozen Han over to Fett, who intends to leave for Tatooine to deliver Han to Jabba the Hutt and claim the bounty on Solo. Lando, who was forced into cooperating with the Empire, initiates an escape and frees Leia and the others. They then try to save Han but are too late and unable to stop Fett as he departs on his ship. They fight their way back to the Falcon and flee Cloud City.

After arriving at Cloud City, and engaging in a brief confrontation with Boba Fett, Luke encounters Vader. The two engage in a lightsaber duel that leads them over the city's central air shaft where, as his mentors warned, Luke proves to be no match for Vader who severs Luke's right hand, causing him to lose his weapon. After Luke refuses to join Vader against the Emperor, Vader reveals that he is Luke's father, Anakin Skywalker. Humiliated, and horrified by the truth, Luke intentionally falls off the bridge, and is pulled into an air shaft. He is ejected beneath the floating city, but is able to grab onto an antenna. He makes a desperate telepathic plea to Leia, who senses it and persuades Lando to return for him in the Falcon. After Luke is brought on board, they are chased by TIE fighters but R2-D2 reactivates the Falcon's hyperdrive, allowing them to escape.

Later, aboard a medical frigate in the Rebel fleet, Luke's severed hand is replaced with a robotic prosthetic. Lando and Chewbacca set off for Tatooine in the Falcon in order to find Jabba the Hutt and Boba Fett to save Han. As the Falcon departs, Luke, Leia, R2-D2, and C-3PO gaze out on the galaxy and await word from Lando.

I highlighted the partes I feel are important, lets tackle them together shall we:

    1) "Three years after the Destruction of the Death Star": at this point, Luke has no mentor to teach him in the jedi ways since Obi died. However, its pretty clear that he dedicates himself to his training at this point. After all, he carries his lightsaber to battles and is even able to move things with his mind. Again, I cant stress this enough: 3 years practicing Jedi skills and probably devoting himself into becoming one.

    2) "He manages to escape from its cave with his lightsaber, but soon succumbs to the sheer-cold temperatures and collapses. The force ghost of his late mentor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, instructs him to go to the Dagobah system to train under Jedi Master Yoda": so, after 3 years of training alone, he manages to use his lightsaber well, move it with his mind and has Force ghosts appearing to him, and instructing him to train under a Jedi Master. He's already on the path.

    3) " He meets a diminutive creature who is revealed to be Yoda; after conferring with Obi-Wan's spirit, Yoda reluctantly accepts Luke as his protege. Yoda trains Luke as a Jedi, and raises his sunken ship from the swamp with the power of the Force, after Luke claims it to be impossible": key words here are "ACCEPT", "PROTEGE", "TRAINS LUKE AS A JEDI". No further explanation needed.

    4) "Luke encounters Vader. The two engage in a lightsaber duel": having a lightsaber duel against the most iconic villain of the Galaxy has to account for something, no? Jeez.

The movie speaks for itself, I rest my case. I really hope we had a CG developer comes here one day and engage with us on this topic, sharing his/her insights. But wont happen so all Im left with is rant.

  • Guys, all I'm saying is that Ashoka, Barris and Ezra set a precedent for not necessarily being a Jedi in the strict definition of the term but still got a tag.
Ashoka and Barris I can get on board with the whole "they started living the jedi ways since young, etc", however saying Ezra deserves a jedi tag but Luke doesn't makes no sense at all.
    Thats all.
Saying "well but Ezra passed his trial" is all nice and dandy, but at what point did this trial really test him? Cause as far as I'm concerned, when Vader went against Kanan and Ezra in Rebels they ran for their lives, while Luke fought it out.
Not to mention, Ezra used Dark Side abilities at some point, and he might as well use them again in the future.
They should be both either Rebel only or Rebel/Jedi. Consistency is key here.

Edit: Yoda and Vader saying "you are not a jedi yet" means that, in the strict definition of the term, he didnt fulfill all the requirements. But this isnt about being strictly a jedi or not, its about getting the tag on this game in particular.
  • And since when is this discussion about the strategy used for squads or characters?
This is General Discussion topic. Jeez
  • The Jedi Order did not exist then, so how could he have been a Jedi? In fact, Old Ben shouldn't be a Jedi as well - in Episode IV he specifically said that he was once a Jedi Knight.

He doesn't tell him isn't one anymore. He also lies to him about his father, so maybe he is being less than truthful. Or maybe he was more like Kanan. Maybe he gave up being a Jedi after the order was destroyed and then decided to become a Jedi again when he travelled and trained with luke.

    Hahahaha talk about double standards.
I, too, agree that Old Ben should NOT have the jedi tag. After all, he forsaken his "jedi way of life" to live exiled in the desert while the Jedi order was being destroyed.
    Again, consistency is key.

Except he didn't. He still carried on living as a Jedi in exile, he just gave up using his lightsaber so he wouldn't be recognised as one.

Why do you keep saying this? Where is the inconsistency?

Well, everywhere. Inconsistency by giving Ezra a jedi tag and not Luke, incosistency that Luke doesnt deserve a rebel/jedi tag and yet Old Ben does.
I just can not see why people are having trouble with this. Luke is already designed for Rebel teams anyway, it really wouldnt hurt (that much) to give him a jedi tag.
