Yes, that's when you'll want a cleanser. You don't need him when you are fighting Negotiators. He is a handy RI to have around in general though and doesn't need much gear for that role.

I run Vulture, Hyena, Sun Fac in my starting lineup. Depending if I face another Mal or Neg, I bring in Han’s Falcon or IG-1000 first, respectively. Falcon makes the battle essentially a war of attrition, and then bring in Spy second to try to force taunt their inevitable Falcon and take it down. Against Neg the IG-1000 helps Hyena survive better, unless you get Hit with heal block on which unfortunately happens fairly frequently. Plus IG-1000 has another stun you can use against them. Plo would be a good cleanse though, however I find that buzz droids don’t last all that long to worry TOO much about them. Mal’s Overcharge ability clears them fairly well. The big issue with Mal v Mal is that pretty much everyone has the exact same speed, so it comes down to a coin flip at the beginning.

In arena I just swap back and forth, attack Mal with Nego & vice versa so I don't have to fight mirror matches. It's a little more complicated in GAC where you have to guess what they're saving on D, but not a lot.

Just a friendly little addition here: I face Malevolence fleets with Han’s Falcon as the first reinforcement all the time in the top 25 and its SUPER annoying. If you want an easy counter to those teams, bring in a mass buff dispel RI like Ebon Hawk or Cassian’s U-wing. As long as you clear the sun fac relatively soon, you can focus fire on the Falcon and kill it before it can go under Outmaneuver again.
